Stow, a town in Oxford County, settled in 1770 and incorporated on January 28, 1833 from a tract including Bradley and Eastman's Grants and Fryeburg Addition.
Once the home of the Pequaket Indians, Stow borders New Hampshire, which may be reached by Maine Route 113 north from Fryeburg.
The Cold River enters the state here and flows through most of the town. Access to Kezar Lake is available from the town via the Lower Bay portion of that Lake.
